Homosexual Familes More Successful than Heterosexual...

â€Å"Being gay is much more profound than simply a sexual relationship; being gay is part of that person’s core identity, and goes right to the very center of his being. Although marriage, cohabitation and parenting styles of homosexual families pose no threats to the heterosexual society; many still believe same-sex marriage goes against its true purpose. â€Å"At the national level, American public opinion on the issue remains split (44 percent support legalizing same-sex marriage; 53 percent oppose same-sex marriage in a May 2010 Gallup Poll) even as opposition toward legalizing same-sex marriage is at its lowest point in decades†¦show more content†¦Forbidding gay marriage is unjustifiable and unconstitutional. â€Å"While some are more accepting of less-traditional views on marriage and family life (secular, liberal, unmarried and b lack Americans), others hold fast to more traditional outlooks (religious, conservative, married and white Americans)† (Amy B. Becker). â€Å"Thus, the view of traditional believers is preordained: homosexual acts are sinful† (Haag). The question that comes to mind is this; if the bible says love thy neighbor and to not judge, and the constitutions states we all have equal rights, how are these anti-gay movements justified? Are homosexual sins any worse than the others; can a religious person justify alcoholism or adultery but disagree with loving someone who is of the same-sex. A quote that relates to this situation and is commonly found on social media and clothing is, â€Å"Don’t judge someone just because they sin differently than you† (anonymous). Homophobic bullying is a huge problem against the homosexuals and their families. Rimalower and Caren mention a great point, that this bullying not only affects the same-sex couples but their children; belie ving that the children have a similar sexual preference as the parents. â€Å"D’Augelli indicates that up to half of lesbians and gay men have experienced some form of bullying in school and many school problems of lesbian, gay, and bisexual students, such as poor academic
